Dry Walk System

General: Our canopy systems are designed to be durable and architecturally pleasing. Also, our canopy systems are environmentally friendly. The aluminum extrusions used for our canopy systems meet the requirement specified by the LEED program, where the recycled aluminum content is greater than 50%. The extrusions we use consist of 60% scrap aluminum, which is comprised of 48% press scrap and 12% post industrial.

We also offer a powder paint option that produces no volatile organic compounds and reduces air pollution. Our powder coating system gives the material a durable, long lasting finish that resists chipping, scratching, UV light and fading.

Our canopy systems are engineered and installed to meet the following specifications:

Load Requirements: The system shall be designed to meet or exceed local building codes.

Roof Deck: All sections shall be interlocked in the field to form self flashing and structurally rigid connections. The deck shall be assembled with no exposed interlocking joints on the underside.

Drainage: Water shall drain on the perimeter of the canopy system from pependicular decking to perimeter gutters and exiting through columns near ground level. If beams are required, then water drains from deck to gutter to beams and out columns near ground level.

Construction: Columns and perimeter guttering shall be mechanically fastened with self drilling screws of the same color. If beams are required, then bents will be mechanically fastened or factory welded (if shipping allows).

Finishes: Aluminum extrusions shall have a factory applied enamel finish or anodized as per Aluminum Assoication Specifications AA-M-10C-22A-42. Color to be selected from manufacturer's standard colors.

Erection: Erections shall be scheduled after all work in the canopy area is complete. Column sleeves (styrofoam block-outs) are funished by the manufacturer and installed by the general contractor, according to approved shop drawings.

Approval: Canopy systems by other manufacturers may be bid only with written approval of the architect or owner, and must be approved ten calendar days before bid opening. Other manufacturers designs must comply with all specifications stated within this section.
